Translated by E. M. Edghill
Following the Categories, On Interpretation analyzes the building blocks of logical assertion: names, verbs, simple statements, affirmation and denial, and the famous puzzle of future contingents (will there be a sea-battle tomorrow?). Aristotle lays the foundations of propositional logic and tackles the relationship between language, thought, and the world. Short but consequential — every later discussion of meaning, modality, and time owes it a debt.
